  • The kennel must be airtight and must have airliners on at least three sides for domestic flights and four sides for international flights.

  • The soft sided shelf measures 18" x 11" x 11" (45 cm x 28 cm x 28 cm) as it fits most Delta aircraft. 
  • Pets must remain with the airline during airport check-in, boarding and during the flight Pets travelling on Delta Cargo may have one of the following dimensions (if pets can fit comfortably inside): 27" x 20" x 19" (68 cm x 50 cm x 48 cm); 32" x 22" x 23in. " (81cm x 55cm x 58cm); 36" x 24" x 26" (91cm x 61cm x 66cm); 40" x 27" x 30" (101cm x 68cm x 76cm); and 48" x 32" x 35" (122cm x 81cm x 89cm). 
  • Kennels must be stiff and rigid, with adequate ventilation on at least three sides for domestic or four sides for international flights, with a strong door and nuts and bolts securing loose parts. 
  • The kennel must be large enough for the animals to stand, turn and lie down comfortably. 
  • Shelves must safely cut food and water containers and absorbent material at the bottom.

How to add pet to Delta flight?

Delta Airlines' pet travel policy and process ensures a smooth travel experience for you and your pet. 

To add a pet, you must make a different pet reservation than the one you made. You must  contact the Delta Cargo Customer Service Center at +1-802-341-3403 or 1-800-352-2746 and complete the necessary Pet Transport Request. Delta Airline charges additional fees depending on the pet you are travelling with.
