Alaska Airlines pet travel serves the continental United States, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica through its Pet Connect program. How to Take an Alaska Air Service Dog on a Flight? 

Travelling with an Alaska Air Service Dog is a two-step process that must be completed at least 2 days before your departure. Alaska Airline recommends starting the process as early as possible before departure and request service while booking online or call their accessible service at 1-800-503-0101 (dial 711 for relay services). Here are the steps to travelling with an Alaska Airlines service dog are given below- 

First, you must fill out the DOT Service Animal Air Transportation form online to obtain a SAFP Service Animal ID. Alaska Airline is working with a company called the Open Doors Organization to validate the form. To apply for a SAFP Service Animal ID, you must have the following information to complete the form: 

  • Veterinarian name and phone number Rabies vaccination date and expiration date Trainer name/organization and contact number (this is you, if you train your dog yourself
  • Once your service animal ID has been approved, it will be valid until the last date of your dog's rabies vaccination. You do not need to repeat this step until it is time to update your dog's vaccination records. 

If you have a SAFP Service Animal ID and have booked a flight with Alaska Airlines, you can request to travel with your service animal. This step must be completed every time you book with Alaska. After verification, you will receive a 6-digit verification code. 

Emotional support animal Alaska Airlines policy 

Alaska Airline no longer allows emotional support animals on their flights under the same condition as Alaska air service dog.
